Blight
Definition
A rapid and extensive browning, wilting, or death of plant tissue caused by bacterial or fungal infection. Potato late blight (Phytophthora infestans) caused the Irish Famine; fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) devastates apple and pear orchards.
