Flavonoid
Definition
A large family of polyphenolic plant secondary metabolites found in nearly all plants. Flavonoids provide floral pigments (anthocyanins — red, blue, purple), UV protection, and antimicrobial defense. Many have documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in humans.
