Mosaic Virus

Definition

A group of plant viruses that cause mottled, light-and-dark mosaic patterns on leaves, often with leaf distortion and stunting. Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) was the first virus ever identified (1892). Mosaic viruses spread by aphids, thrips, or mechanical contact.
