Sand (soil)
Definition
Soil particles between 0.05 and 2 mm — the largest mineral particles in soil. Sandy soils drain rapidly, warm quickly in spring, and are easy to work, but have low fertility and water-holding capacity. They benefit greatly from organic matter additions.
