Definition
The largest and most diverse class of plant natural products, derived from isoprene units. Terpenes include monoterpenes (essential oil components), sesquiterpenes (artemisinin from Artemisia annua), diterpenes (taxol from yew), and the rubber polymer polyisoprene.
