Definition
The application of CRISPR-Cas9 and related gene-editing tools to make precise changes in plant genomes. Unlike transgenics, CRISPR edits may not introduce foreign DNA. Applications include disease-resistant wheat, improved tomato shelf life, and drought-tolerant crops.
