Definition

A tropical or subtropical montane forest characterized by persistent low-level cloud cover within the canopy, resulting in high moisture and the profusion of mosses, ferns, orchids, and bromeliads. Cloud forests are extraordinarily biodiverse and highly threatened by climate warming.
