Intercropping

Definition

Growing two or more crops simultaneously in the same field, either in mixed or alternating rows. Intercropping can increase total yield, improve resource use efficiency, reduce pests, and stabilize income. The Three Sisters intercrop of corn, beans, and squash is a classic example.
