Rust (plant)
Definition
A fungal disease caused by obligate parasites of the order Pucciniales, producing orange, yellow, or brown pustules on leaves and stems. Wheat stem rust (Puccinia graminis) has threatened global grain harvests. Rusts require living host tissue and often have complex life cycles on two host species.
