Tropical Rainforest

Definition

The most biodiverse terrestrial biome, found near the equator with high rainfall (over 2,000 mm/year) distributed throughout the year. Tropical rainforests hold an estimated 50% of Earth's species despite covering only 6% of its land surface. The Amazon, Congo, and Southeast Asian rainforests are the three largest.
