Tephrosia crassifolia

Tephrosia crassifolia is a shrubby legume in the large genus Tephrosia, characterized by its thick, leathery leaves as the epithet crassifolia indicates. Native to Africa, it grows in open woodland and bushveld habitats, producing the pinnate leaves and racemes of pink to red pea-shaped flowers typical of the genus. Many Tephrosia species contain rotenoids in their roots, which have been traditionally exploited as fish poisons.
