Pueraria montana, commonly known as kudzu, is a vigorous twining vine native to Japan, China, and Southeast Asia. It grows rapidly in subtropical and temperate forests and disturbed areas, producing large trifoliate leaves and fragrant purple flower clusters. Introduced to North America and Europe for erosion control, it has become one of the most problematic invasive plants, capable of smothering native vegetation under dense growth.
