Calliandra humilis is a low-growing shrubby legume native to arid and semi-arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, often called dwarf stardust or low-growing calliandra. It produces striking powder-puff flower heads with long, showy red to pinkish stamens and small bipinnate leaves adapted to desert conditions. The plant regrows readily from its woody rootstock after fire or drought and is valued for erosion control and wildlife habitat.
