Mimosa acantholoba

Mimosa acantholoba is a spiny shrub native to Mexico and Central America, growing in dry tropical forests and thorny scrublands. Its name references the spiny or prickly nature of its pods, which bear hooked prickles that attach to passing animals for dispersal. The plant produces bipinnate leaves, globose pinkish flower heads, and forms dense impenetrable thickets in disturbed and degraded dryland habitats.
