Chamaecrista gononclada is a shrubby legume native to Brazil, belonging to the large and taxonomically complex genus Chamaecrista found primarily in tropical America. The plant grows in open habitats such as cerrado savanna and scrublands, producing the characteristic bright yellow flowers of the genus. Like all Chamaecrista species, it is a nitrogen fixer and provides important ecological services in nutrient-poor savanna ecosystems.
