Tephrosia karkarensis is a herbaceous or shrubby legume in the large genus Tephrosia, possibly native to the Karkar Island region or eastern Africa. The genus contains over 400 species distributed across tropical and subtropical regions, many containing rotenoids used as fish poisons and insecticides. This species grows in open habitats including grasslands and woodland edges, bearing pinnate leaves and racemes of pea-shaped flowers.
