Definition
The application of lime (calcium carbonate or calcium oxide) to raise soil pH and supply calcium. Liming is essential on acidic soils to release nutrients locked up by acidity and to reduce aluminum and manganese toxicity. Dolomitic lime also supplies magnesium.
