Raised Bed
Definition
A garden bed built above the natural soil level, typically framed with wood, brick, or stone. Raised beds warm faster in spring, provide excellent drainage, allow customized soil mixes, and reduce back strain. They are highly productive, often yielding two to four times more than ground-level beds.
