Gompholobium huegelii is a shrub endemic to southwestern Western Australia, named after Carl von Hügel, an Austrian explorer and botanist who traveled extensively in Australia in the 1830s. It grows in sandplain heath and woodland habitats, producing yellow pea flowers characteristic of the wedge-pea genus. The species represents one of many legumes endemic to the botanically extraordinary southwestern Australian floristic province.
