Machaerium aculeatum

Machaerium aculeatum is a shrub or small tree in the rosewood tribe native to tropical South America, particularly found in Brazil and neighboring countries. It is armed with sharp stipular spines along its stems, characteristic of several species in this genus, and produces pinkish to purple pea-type flowers. The species grows in seasonal forests, cerrado, and forest margins across much of Brazil.
