Tephrosia ionophlebia is a herbaceous or shrubby legume in the large genus Tephrosia, native to Africa. The genus contains over 400 species distributed across tropical and subtropical regions and many members contain rotenoid compounds that have been used as fish poisons or insecticides. This species grows in grasslands and open woodland habitats, producing the characteristic racemes of pink to purple pea-shaped flowers.
