Abrahamia lenticellata is a member of the family Anacardiaceae, order Sapindales, endemic to Madagascar. The specific epithet lenticellata refers to the presence of prominent lenticels on the bark of this species. Lenticels are specialized pores in the bark of woody plants that facilitate gas exchange between the internal living tissues and the external atmosphere, compensating for the barrier to gas diffusion that bark creates. In Abrahamia lenticellata, these structures are evidently well-developed and conspicuous enough to serve as a key diagnostic character distinguishing this species from its congeners. Prominent lenticels are common in trees adapted to moist, humid forest environments and are particularly visible on young stems and branches. The genus Abrahamia is an endemic Malagasy group within the cashew family Anacardiaceae, comprising trees and shrubs with alternate leaves, resinous tissues, paniculate inflorescences of small five-merous flowers, and drupaceous fruits with fleshy outer layers surrounding hard inner stones. The lenticel-bearing bark of Abrahamia lenticellata likely presents a distinctive appearance in the field, potentially facilitating identification by botanists and local collectors. The species likely grows in the humid forests of Madagascar, possibly in the eastern rainforest belt or in transitional forest zones. Madagascar is a global biodiversity hotspot with over 90 percent plant species endemism, and species such as Abrahamia lenticellata contribute to this remarkable assemblage. The Anacardiaceae family, to which this species belongs, is placed in the order Sapindales alongside the maple family, citrus family, and mahogany family, among others.
