Sphenostylis schweinfurthii is a climbing vine in the legume family native to East and Central Africa, named in honor of the explorer and botanist Georg August Schweinfurth. It grows in woodland edges and grassland habitats, producing trifoliate leaves and small purple to violet pea-shaped flowers. Like other Sphenostylis species, it may produce edible seeds and is valued in some traditional agricultural systems.
