Acacia rigens, the needle wattle, is a rigid prickly shrub native to southern and inland Australia. Its stiff, sharp-pointed phyllodes give it a needle-like appearance and provide defense against browsing. It grows in mallee, saltbush scrub, and dry woodland on alkaline soils in South Australia, New South Wales, and Western Australia.
