Havardia pallens

Havardia pallens, commonly known as tenaza, is a thorny shrub or small tree native to the dry brushlands of southern Texas and northeastern Mexico. It produces clusters of pale white to cream-colored ball-like flower heads and flat seed pods characteristic of the mimosoid legumes. The plant is well adapted to arid conditions and provides important cover and forage for wildlife in the Tamaulipan thornscrub.
