Campylotropis macrocarpa is a deciduous shrub native to China and neighboring parts of East Asia. It grows in mountain slopes, forest margins, and rocky hillsides, reaching 1–2 meters in height. The plant bears attractive pink-purple pea flowers in elongated racemes during late summer and autumn, and is occasionally cultivated as an ornamental shrub.
