Tephrosia virginiana, known as goat's rue or Virginia tephrosia, is a perennial herb in the genus Tephrosia, family Fabaceae, native to eastern North America. It grows in sandy, well-drained soils and produces showy bicolored papilionoid flowers of yellow and pink-purple, and was historically used by Native Americans as a fish poison.
