Definition
A cultivation approach that avoids soil tillage to preserve soil structure, mycorrhizal networks, and earthworm populations. Weeds are suppressed by thick mulch or cardboard layers, and organic matter is added to the surface for worms and soil organisms to incorporate. Popularized by Charles Dowding.
