Brongniartia sousae is a shrubby legume endemic to Mexico, belonging to a genus of shrubs primarily found in Mexican dry forests and scrubland. It produces pea-type flowers and compound leaves typical of the tribe Phaseoleae, growing in tropical dry forest habitats of Mexico's Pacific slope. The genus Brongniartia includes approximately 60 species, most of which are endemic to Mexico.
