Lupinus piurensis is a lupine endemic to the Piura region of northwestern Peru, growing in the dry montane scrubland and grassland habitats of this area where the Andes meet the Pacific desert zone. It bears dense spikes of pea-type flowers and palmate leaves adapted to the seasonally dry, cool conditions of the northwestern Peruvian highlands. Northwestern Peru represents a distinct biogeographic zone for Andean plants.
