Lupinus tayacajensis is a perennial lupine endemic to the Tayacaja province of Huancavelica department in the central Peruvian Andes, growing in high-altitude puna grasslands and rocky slopes. It bears dense erect spikes of pea-type flowers and silvery-hairy palmate compound leaves typical of high-Andean lupines. The central Andes of Peru support an extraordinary concentration of endemic lupine species, many with highly restricted ranges.
