The epithet 'cuspidifrons' derives from Latin meaning 'pointed front' or 'cuspidate forehead,' likely referring to distinctively pointed or cuspidate-tipped outer phyllaries (the recurved or spreading bracts of the involucre that are a primary diagnostic feature in dandelion taxonomy). Like all dandelions, this species forms a basal rosette of oblanceolate to runcinate-pinnatifid leaves with a deeply toothed or lobed margin. The hollow flowering scape bears a single capitulum composed entirely of yellow ligulate florets. Fruits are the familiar 'clocks'—achenes topped with a delicate, white, parachute-like pappus of simple bristles on a long beak, enabling efficient wind dispersal. Taraxacum cuspidifrons is likely native to Europe, where dandelion microspecies diversity is highest and botanical recording most detailed.
