Cicer yamashitae is a wild chickpea species native to Afghanistan, representing an outlying member of the Cicer genus in the eastern part of its range. It grows in rocky mountain slopes and dry grasslands. The species was named in honor of Niro Yamashita, a Japanese agronomist who contributed to research on chickpea and its wild relatives.
