Strongylodon macrobotrys, known as jade vine or emerald vine, is a spectacular woody climbing vine native to the tropical forests of the Philippines, producing extraordinary hanging clusters of jade-green to turquoise flowers up to one meter in length. It climbs high into the forest canopy using its twining stems, bearing large trifoliate leaves and massive pendulous inflorescences of claw-shaped flowers pollinated by bats. The species is critically endangered in the wild due to deforestation but is widely cultivated in botanical gardens for its extraordinary beauty.
