Viola × grubovii is a hybrid violet named in honor of the botanist Valery Grubov, who specialized in Asian flora. This hybrid occurs in central Asia, likely in Mongolia or adjacent regions, bearing the characteristic five-petaled violet flowers of the genus in purple to blue hues. As a hybrid, it combines characteristics of its parent species and grows in steppes, rocky slopes, or meadow habitats of the Asian interior.
