Anarthrophyllum gayanum is a spiny leguminous shrub named after the Chilean botanist Claude Gay, belonging to the genus Anarthrophyllum in the family Fabaceae. It grows in arid and high-altitude shrublands of southern South America, particularly the Patagonian steppe where its thorny branches resist grazing.
