Mucuna urens

Mucuna urens, the horse-eye bean, is a large woody climbing vine native to tropical forests of Central and South America and the Caribbean. It produces large pendulous clusters of dark purple flowers and elongated pods covered with dense orange-brown stinging hairs that cause intense skin irritation. The large, smooth, chocolate-brown seeds are carried by ocean currents and are found washed up on beaches across the Atlantic world.
