Astragalus caucasicus is a perennial spiny milkvetch native to the Caucasus Mountains region, including Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and northeastern Turkey. It grows on rocky mountain slopes and dry hillsides, forming dense thorny cushions typical of many Caucasian milkvetches. Some species in this group are harvested for tragacanth gum, a valuable natural gum used in food and pharmaceutical industries.
