Astragalus looseri

Astragalus looseri

Astragalus looseri is a perennial milkvetch native to Chile and possibly adjacent Argentina, growing in dry montane and steppe habitats of the Andes and pre-Andes. It bears the characteristic pinnate leaves and pea-type flowers of the large Astragalus genus, adapted to the dry, cool conditions of the southern Andes. South American Astragalus species, particularly those in Chile, form a distinct subgroup of the otherwise predominantly Northern Hemisphere genus.
