Thrips
Definition
Tiny (0.5–5 mm) slender insects that feed by puncturing plant cells and sucking contents, causing silvering, streaking, and distortion of leaves and petals. Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis) is a major pest of greenhouse crops and a vector of tospoviruses.
